Here is a letter sent to Thames Water and supported by councilors from Witney Town Council, West Oxfordshire District Council and Oxfordshire County Council
We are taking the issue of risk from untreated sewage carefully and proportionately but there is little point in standing in front of a truck and wondering if it will brake in time if you can just step out of the way.
Thames Water can be cautious and sensible now and look back and say it wasn't necessary if it turns out that way, or take chances with safety and gamble with people's health.
The point is that what we are asking for is very easy and cheap to achieve.
Happier times will come again but we will have to fight for them.
